Abstract:For the evaluation of 1.5-year-old trema orientalis from Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province, the fiber morphology and chemical composition of its xylem were examined, the average fiber length was close to 1.2 mm, total cellulose content was 78%, and the content of Klason lignin was 21%. Sulfate cooking of trema orientalis was conducted under the conditions of NaOH charge 21%, cooking maximum temperature 160℃, cooking time 180 min (including time to maximum temperature 90 min, time at maximum temperature 90 min), the screened yield was 52.7%. Resultant pulp was then bleached via ODEop bleaching sequence, the yield of bleached pulp was 99.6% and brightness 85.0%.The tensile index,burst index and tear index of bleached pulp was 79.0 N·m/g,5.15 kPa·m2/g and 5.81 mN•m2/g respectirely.
