Abstract:The effects of fluorescent carbon quantum dots(CDs) and laponite on the properties of alkenyl succinic anhydride(ASA) emulsions were investigated by synergistic emulsification of ASA Pickering emulsion, a novel ASA paper sizing agent emulsion, with CDs and laponite. The results showed that the contact angle of the CDs-laponite particles decreased with the increase of the amount of CDs or laponite, the ASA Pickering emulsion emulsified by 0.050 g laponite and 1.000 g CDs had the best stability and the smallest emulsion particle size, and all the ASA emulsions prepared were oil-in-water Pickering emulsion. Confocal microscope showed that the CDs-laponite particles were adsorbed at the interface between oil and water and formed an interface particle film, which improved the stability of the emulsion. The paper sizing degree was 73 s when the dosage of ASA was 0.2%(based on dry pulp, wt%) with 1%(based on ASA, wt%) of CDs-laponite. Increasing the amount of CDs-laponite particle, both the paper sizing degree and the hydrolytic stability of ASA were improved. |
