Abstract:The effects of different acid and alkali treatment conditions on the properties of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) paper prepared by wet forming process were analyzed. The effects of acid and alkali concentrations and treatment time of on the morphology, tensile strength and chemical groups of the paper were studied. The results showed that with the increase of concentration and treatment time, the tensile strength retention rate of UHMWPE fiber paper decreased, the retention rate of tensile strength was more than 90% after 6 hours treatment, and above 80% tensile strength was remained after 48 hours, and after the treatment of H2SO4 for 48 hours, UHMWPE fiber paper was oxidized to from carbonyl, hydroxyl and other active groups. However no obvious active groups were found in the UHMWPE fiber paper after the treatment of NaOH.
