Abstract:PCC filler in the form of flocs by preflocculation applied in papermaking was studied, the size and stability of the floc in wet end had important influence on the properties of paper. Precipitated Calcium Carbonate(PCC)was preflocculated with different amounts of cationic polyacrylamide(CPAM), shearing resistance and preflocculation capacity of PCC flocs under different shearing conditions were investigated, influence of various flocs from different preflocculation conditions on paper properties was also studied. The results showed that the particle size of flocs was larger and its stability was better when high dosage of CPAM was used.Compared with the conventional filler loading, filler retention rate in high filler content paper increased about 3% when CPAM dosage was 3%~7% and filler content was 55%, tensile index increased about 16% when CPAM dosage was 3%. However, under high CPAM dosage, the addition of larger flocs were unfavorable to the tensile index of paper, and whiteness of paper. |
