Abstract:A novel cationic polyvinyl alcohol (GQPVA) was prepared by modification of polyvinyl alcohol with 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride and with glutaraldehyde as cross-linker. The corresponding structure was characterized by IR. The Nitrogen element content of cationic polyvinyl alcohol was investigated by element analyzer. GQPVA-PAE composite wet strength agent was used in papermaking process to increase the crosslinking among fibers. And the effect of GQPVA dosage on the strength of paper was studied. The result indicated that when the dosag of GQPVA-PAE was 1% (on od fiber mass) the wet and dry tensile index increased by 11.8% and 6.94%, respectively, tensile index retention rate increased by 6.88%. Tearing index and folding endurance increased by 8.27% and 26.2%, respectively. |
