Abstract:The migration and its suppression of alkyl ketene dimer (AKD) and in the paper filled with CaCO3 from causticizing line mud were studied. The results showed that electrostatic interaction was a principal factor effecting efficiency of AKD; the more quantity migration of adsorbed AKD during drying process of the paper might be the main reason for the lower sizing degree of the paper filled with the line mud CaCO3 comparing with PCC filled paper; the sizing efficiency of AKD could be improved by controlling the migration of adsorbed AKD using cationic starch, however it still did not reach the same efficiency as in the PCC filled paper.
