| Abstract:Combustion ashes play important roles in investigating causes of fire and solving cases. Research on combustion ashes was rare in the past because of the backwardness of technical approaches. With the SEM-EDAX analysis technique, it becomes possible to study the kind of combustible material through ashes. The morphological characteristics of paper material ash particles, their elementary composition and percentage can be analyzed by SEM-EDAX, and then the kind of ashes can be determined. Therefore, paper materials such as printing paper, tissue paper, newspaper, corrugated paper etc. can be identified. |
