Abstract:This paper studied the pyrolysis process conditions for preparation of carbon-based adsorption material from paper sludge and its characteristics. It was found that after grinding/screening pre-processing, ZnCl2 activation, low-temperature pyrolysis, hydrochloric acid washing, drying and grinding, paper sludge could be developed into excellent adsorption material with abundant internal pore structure and high specific surface area. The results showed that under the conditions of pyrolysis temperature 500℃, activator concentration 3 mol/L, pyrolysis time 30 mins, solid to liquid ratio 1∶2, the yield of solid carbon achieved 73.3% which had iodine adsorption value 610.3 mg/g. The specific surface area was up to 310.8 cm2/g, higher than 159.5 cm2/g of the commercial activated carbon. Its pore size about 40 and 100 was dominant, medium and large pores were in higher proportion capability. Its surface was uneven and had a cellular structure, which led to enhance its adsorption greatly. It could take the place of commencial activated carbon using in industrial waste water treatment. |
