Abstract:Debonder, a kind of bond weakening reagent usually used in the production of fluff pulp, was used as interfacial modifier in poly (butylene succinate (PBS)-chemithermomechnical pulp (CTMP) fiber composites. Physical properties measurement of handsheets prepared with debonder treated fibers indicated that the bonding strength between fibers was sharply decreased. The mechanical property of composites prepared from treated fiber showed significant improvement. In comparison with untreated ones, the tensile strength, impact strength and bending strength of composites containing 40% of CTMP fiber treated with 0.50% debonder increased by 21.9%, 22.3% and 35.4%, respectively. Furthermore, the data of rheological measurement indicated that the addition of debonder reduced the shear viscosity of composite, and favored the processing process of composite. Analysis of DMA and SEM showed that the interfacial bonding between treated CTMP fiber and PBS matrix was improved. |
