| Abstract:Chitosan(CS) -montmorillonite (MMT) coatings and CS-MMT coated paper were prepared. FT-IR and X-ray diffraction confirmed that the chitosan was in the area in between of the layers of MMT. The effects of preparation conditions of CS-MMT coatings on tensile index and antibacterial properties for staphylococcus aureus of the coated paper were studied. The results showed that, 2% chitosan dosage, ratio of chitosan to montmorillonite 3∶1, relative molecular weight of chitosan 200 k~500 k were the optimum conditions. The coated paper had favorable antibacterial properties for staphylococcus aureus and the tensile index of paper was improved obviously. SEM confirmed that there was a film of the chitosan-montmorillonite coatings on the paper surface. |
