Abstract:In the presence of Fe3+, treatment efficiency of pulping middle stage effluent by aerobic activated sludge and sludge characteristics were studied when the sludge were shocked at pH=5.0 and 9.5 for 7 days. Then the recovery experiments were carried out for 7 days as the pH value was adjusted to 7.0. At the shocks at pH=5.0 and 9.5, the treatment efficiency decreased, the sludge settling performance deteriorated for both group with iron and blank group, but all the indicators of the group containing iron were better than that of the blank group. In the recovery experiments, sludge with iron recovered relatively rapidly. At the shock of pH=5.0, the activated sludge treatment effect was better than that of pH=9.5, but the sludge settling performance was poor.
