Abstract:This paper compared the influencing factors of two testing methods for smoldering rate of cigarette paper. It was shown that when using method Y, the smoldering rate of cigarette paper became slow with the basis weight increasing, and fast with ratio of potassium salt and sodium salt increasing. The basis weight had the most significant effect on smoldering rate of cigarette paper. There were various effect of combustion aids on smoldering rate, but the effect was not significant on the whole; when applying the method C, the smoldering rate of cigarette paper became slow with the basis weight increasing, and fast with combustion aids content and the ratio of potassium salt and sodium salt increasing. The basis weight had the most significant effect on smoldering rate of cigarette paper, and combustion aids and the ratio of potassium salt and sodium salt were the second. No matter which method was adopted, the air permeability had no effect on the smoldering rate of cigarette paper. Compared with method Y, method C was more significant for finding the ways to increase or decrease the smoldering rate of cigarette paper in production. |
