Abstract:The impacts of different dual systems on retention, drainage and handsheet physical properties of deinked pulp were studied. The results showed that the PAC cationic cassava residue (CPCD)or cationic cassava residue bentonite dual retention and drainage systems could improve retention and drainage performances of the deinked furnish more significantly than the CPCD single retention system. The first pass retention of a dual retention and drainage system containing 0.6% PAC and 0.4%~0.6% cationic cassava residue increased by 11.4 percentage points, drainage increased to 294.4 gram in 60 seconds.Compared with the use of 0.5% cationic cassava residue alone, the dual system could also improve the strength of the paper product. The tensile index, tear index and burst index were increased by 7.52%, 19.0% and 5.33% respectively.
