Abstract:CST (Capillary Suction Time) can quickly and accurately evaluate the dewatering performance of sludge. The dewatering performance of papermaking wastewater sludge was evaluated by using CST method in this study. CST values can be obtained in the tens of seconds, it can accurately reflect the sludge dewatering performance, and also can be used to determine the optimal dosage of flocculent. CST results showed that the wastewater solids had the best dewatering performance when it was rapidly stirred in 300 r/min for 10 min at first, then slowly stirred in 50 r/min for 15 min. CST values were gradually reduced with temperature increasing and viscosity decreasing; CST value was low while pH values was in 7, indicating neutral conditions probably could improve sludge dewatering performance. On the other hand CPAM was more effective than APAM for improving sludge dewatering. |
