Abstract:ASA is a typical reactive neutral sizing agent. In this paper, Laponite nanoparticles together with sodium alginate were used to stabilize ASA emulsions. The influences of Laponite and sodium alginate addition levels on the stability and sizing performance of ASA emulsion were investigated. The effects of aluminum sulfate dosage and furnish pH on the sizing performance of ASA emulsion, as well as the hydrolysis stability of ASA emulsion were analyzed. The results indicated that, the addition of sodium alginate can improve the stability and sizing performance of Laponite stabilized ASA emulsions. A small amount of aluminum sulfate can significantly enhance the sizing performance of ASA emulsions. ASA emulsions sizing performance is well from pH 5 to 9, but it has the best sizing performances at pH 6~6.5. When the storage time of the slabiliged ASA emulsions is over 120 minutes, its sizing efficiency only reduces by 16%, indicating a rather good hydrolysis stability of the emulsions. |
