Abstract:From the views of the technique, the sinology, the history and the heritage, the author retrospected the academic study of the manual papermaking in Jiajiang at home and abroad, and pointed out that as an atypical survival (not-farm but handicraft industrial community) of rural China, the study of the traditional manual papermaking in Jiajiang had a significance which was beyond its geographical range. As the study paid more attention to the protection of intangible heritage nowadays, the local scholars should enhance the study of the traditional manual papermaking in Jiajiang as one of the Chinese cultural heritage, which is not only beneficial to the old papermaking technique, but also helpful rising the Jiajiang papermakings national popularity, promoting the local economic development. |
