Abstract:Zero-valent iron (Fe(0)) was used for tertiary treatment of southern mixed hardwood chemical pulping effluent. Effect of pH, reaction time, reaction temperature and zero-valent iron dosage on treatment efficiency was investigated in this study. Results showed that the removal rates of chemical oxygen demand (CODCr) and color reached 52% and 82% respectively, and biodegradability of the effluent obviouly enhanced. Furthermore, the removal rates of lignin-derived compounds improved with Fe (0) treatment. |
