| Abstract:The influences of the pulp used for cigarette paper production, basis weight of the paper, ash content, combustion agent content, and combustion method, on cigarette paper smoldering rate were studied. The results showed that the influence of the kind of the pulp is not obvious, the basis weight has quite significant influence on smoldering rate, smoldering rate increases as cigarette paper basis weight increase, cigarette paper ash content has slightly effect on smoldering rate, smoldering rate decreases as ash content increase. On the other hand, the lower combustion agent content the higher of smoldering rate, and combustion-supporting agent content has a significant effect on the dropped ash. Different smoldering rate tester has different testing result, horizontal smoldering rate testing value is higher than that of vertical smoldering instrument. |
