Abstract:The paper sizing agent was synthesized by emulsion polymerization of methyl methacrylate, butyl acrylate and hexafluorobutyl methacrylate under microwave irradiation. Paper board was sizing by coating the sizing agent, and then the waterproof abilities of the coated paper board was characterized by measuring the contact angle and Cobb value. The effects of the dosage of emulsifier, microwave irradiation time and the amount of fluorinated acrylate on productive rate and waterproof performance of the coated paper board were studied. When the microwave power was 50 W, emulsifier dosage was 3%, fluorinated monomer dosage was 10% and microwave irradiation time was 4.5 min, productive rate was more than 90%, the contact angle and the Cobb value of the coated paper board could reach 121° and 14 g/m2 respectively. |
