Abstract:This paper aimed at making flame retardant wall decoration materials through the pretreatment of aluminum hydroxide by cationic starch. The results indicated that the particle size of aluminum hydroxide increased after pretreating with cationic starch. The ash content of wall decoration materials increased obviously with the dosage of cationic starch increased. The ash content in the materials obtained through the pretreatment process increased much more visible. When the starch was used in pretreatment or added into the pulp and the dosage of cationic starch was 1.5%, the ash contents in the wall decoration materials were reach the maximum, 19.9% and 19.3% respectively. In addition, this paper analyzed the effect of pretreatment process on the physical strength of fiber molding wall decoration materials in terms of stiffness, and drainability, finally the flame retardant mechanism was studied by using TGA and SEM.
