| Abstract:Paper was coated with complexes of chitosan-starch and the effects of process conditions on tensile index and antibacterial properties for Staphylococcus aureus of the paper were studied. The results showed that the optimal coating conditions were as follows, chitosan dosage 15 g/L, ratio of starch to chitosan 1.5∶1.0, acetic acid concentration 1.5%, pH value 5, relative molecular weight of chitosan 200,000, coating weight 2.02 g/m2. The coated paper had favorable antibacterial properties for Staphylococcus aureus and the tensile index was also improved obviously. |
