Abstract:The catalytic oxidation method was developed for advanced treatment of the papermaking effluent, which could not meet the new discharge regulation for pulp and paper industry only using biological treatment technology. A heterogeneous catalyst was studied with Cu2+ as the active component and activated carbon as the carrier. The effects of Cu2+ concentration, calcination temperature and calcination time on the Cu-based catalyst performance were explored and optimal catalyst preparation conditions were as 3 h calcination at 300℃ with 6% Cu2+ impregnation concentration. In addition, CuO-CeO2 catalyst was also studied, which showed 6% Ce2+ concentration was the optimal content. The catalysts with and without Ce doping were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Catalyst life and metal leaching were investigated also. The results showed that Ce improved the activity and stability of catalysts. The chemical oxygen demand was less than 90 mg/L after advanced treatment of papermaking effluent,it meets the water pollutants discharge regulation GB3544—2008 for Pulp and Paper Industry. |
