Abstract:The fast-growing poplar P-RC APMP with two different freenesses were mixed respectively with a bleached eucalyptus kraft pulp (BKP). The synergistic effect between the poplar P-RC APMP and eucalyptus BKP was explored by investigating the changes of the physical and optical properties of the blended pulps. The results showed that after blending the low-strength poplar P-RC APMP and eucalyptus BKP, a synergistic effects of the tensile strength, tensile energy absorption (T.E.A), re-wet tensile strength, tear strength, and so on could be occurred. The bulk and opacity of the blended pulp increased as the blending ratio of the poplar P-RC APMP increased. About 14%~25% increase in tensile strength of the blended pulp could be obtained compared to the eucalyptus BKP alone. However, the brightness of the blended pulp was impacted by that of the poplar P-RC APMP. |
