Abstract:Laccase is one of the ligninolytic enzymes secreted by white rot fungus which is the most important microorganism involved in degrading lignin in nature. Application of laccase to pulp bleaching is an attractive alternative to decrease chemicals demand and wastewater pollution. Therefore, the production of laccase in high yield has received much attention from researchers in past decades. The research progress of laccase production from white rot fungi in recent years is overviewed in this paper. Several effective methods to improve laccase yield in submerged and solid-state fermentation are mainly discussed, and the prospect of such research field in the future is also presented.
