Abstract:Urea and potassium hydroxide were used to pretreat the tobacco stems pulp in order to improve the quality of the reconstitued tobacco. The optimum pretreatment conditions were as following: urea 1.0%, potassium hydroxide 1.0%, treatment temperature 45℃, treatment time 3.0 h. Under the condition, the tensile strength, the bulk and the softness of the tobacco stem paper were 32.8 N·m/g, 2.89 cm3/g and 37.3 mN, increased 9.34%, 16.5% and 27.5% compared with the control sample respectively. At the same time, smoking experience of the treated reconstitued tobacco indicated that its offensive odor and the stimulation were lower, the aroma and harmony increased compared with the normal reconstitued tobacco. |
