Abstract:In this study, tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS) and methyltriethoxysilane(MTES) were used as precursors to prepare nano- SiO2 with hydrophobic group—CH3 on the surface by sol-gel method. The prepared nano- SiO2 and the cationic styrene-acrylic emulsion were blended and impregnate filter paper to prepare an oil-water separation filter paper. Different nano- SiO2 particles were prepared by changing the ratio of TEOS and MTES. The effects of different nano- SiO2 particles on the surface microstructure, static contact angle and oil-water separation efficiency of oil-water separation filter paper were investigated. The results showed that when the nano- SiO2 particles prepared based on TEOS∶MTES ratio of 4∶3 dosage was 1.0%, the static contact angle of the oil-water separation filter paper to water reached 148.4°, the mixture of hexadecane and water separation efficiency reached 99.8%, compared to the emulsion-impregnated filters the permeability of the oil-water separation filter paper decreased by 7.7%.
