Abstract:Diatomite particles were modified by using cationic starch and sodium metaphosphate, the cationic starch modified diatomite filler was prepared. The experimental results indicated that diatomite was effectively modified using cationic starch and sodium metaphosphate. The particle size, and Zeta potential were increased, the starch deposition rate was above 98%, at the same time the retention of modified diatomite was more than 78%．
