Abstract:During coated art paper production, a lot of broke are produced inevitably, and the recycling of broke will affect the properties of the base paper. The effects of the amount of recycled broke on the base paper properties such as evenness index, tensile index and tear index were studied, and the effects of the broke ratio, the charges of cationic starch and cationic polyacrylamide on the physical properties of the base paper were investigated with orthogonal experiments. The results showed that the recycling of broke affected the evenness and strength properties of the base paper. During the coated art paper production, the base paper with good physical characteristics could be obtained by adjusting the charges of cationic starch and cationic polyacrylamide.
