Abstract:In this study, an analytical method for the determination of monosaccharide composition (arabinose, galactose, glucose, xylose and mannose), uronic acid(galacturonic acid, glucuronic acid) and cellobiose in the pulp fibers hydrolysate was established by ion chromatography coupled with integrated pulsed amperometric detection. The analysis was performed on an anion-exchange column CarboPac PA 10 (2.0 mm × 250 mm) with gradient elution of NaOH and NaOAc as mobile phases, and the sugars were separated by integrated pulsed amperometric detector. The eight sugars showed a good linear relationship and the correlation coefficient R2 of linear regression equations were above 0.9988 in the concentration range of 0.01~1.0 µg/mL, the detection limit was 0.0022~0.0046 mg/L, the relative standard deviation (RSD) was 0.63%~1.83%, and the average recovery was 96.62%~102.42%, which met the requirements of analysis and detection. The monosaccharide composition of several pulp fibers in papermaking was further determined by this method, which showed that the hydrolysates of fibers from spruce, eucalyptus, bamboo, flax, Chinese alpine rush and cotton were free of galacturonic acid and glucuronic acid, and their monosaccharide compositions were quite different. |
